Space Theme for a group of kids at the school science fair?

kids science projects

The school is going to be having a science fair. As I am doing astronamy with them this term I was thinking of maybe incorporating the space theme into the science fair. I was just wondering does anyone have ideas of what we could present on the day???

Activities of what the kids have done. I was thinking of doing the Solar System Model with them & displaying that. I do not just want to put out one of there books of colour in pages in,as some parents may get upset as to why there kids books are not out. (books I was thinking of maybe giving the parents as gifts). During each process/stage of the making of whatever it is there will be pictures taken & will be put as a slide show on the day.

The slide show will consist of pictures during each stage of the material making of everyone & will be downloaded onto disk & put up for the parents to see the whole project through.

Any ideas of what I could make them do? or do with them??

Kids nail in salt water experiment not doing anything. Why?

science projects for kids

Our child has a science experiment project where the instructions said to dissolve salt into hot water and then suspend a nail from a string into the water. We are supposed to report back what happens.

So, 5 days later, absolutly nothing has happened. Anyone know what was supposed to happen?

Is it possible we used the wrong type of nail (We used a galvanized nail), or maybe we didn’t use enough salt.

Please help in the name of kids science! :-)
